My daughter and I did a side trip to The Burgh (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania).

Named in 1758 by General John Forbes in honor of British Statesman William Pitt. 446 bridges crisscross the Monongahela, Allegheny and Ohio Rivers which converges around the City .

It is home to Carnegie Mellon University and University of Pittsburgh. Black and Gold are the local sports teams colors. Pirates or Bucs (baseball), Steelers (football), and Penguins (hockey). The downtown is vibrant, lots of great restaurants and art.

Mt Washington sits across the Monongahela and Ohio River. It provides panoramic views of the City. Access is by public transportation to one of two Inclines (Funiculars) which takes you up the side of the mountain to viewing platforms. You can also drive there, but parking is limited. When we were there, volunteers from the Explorers Club of Pittsburgh, were rappelling down the side of the mountain collecting trash.
