Dollar Store Fall Craft

Dollar Store Fall Craft

Fall is one of my favorite seasons, winter spring and summer being my other favorite season ha ha! Or maybe it is the transition between seasons that I like. The promise of a new chapter, fresh scenery, colors and seasonal cuisine. As the garden slowly goes into hibernation for the winter, the trees herald this transition with their magnificent displays of bronze, earthy orange and yellow. Time to dig out the Fall Decor from the basement, most were bought at the end of the season clearance sales over the years, augmented by dollar store finds.

This is an easy rainy day project.

Fall Craft Mise en Place. Most of these items are from the Dollar Tree, the rest from end-of-season clearance at various stores from previous years.

I repurposed a foam cooler and cut out a platform which I then glue gunned unto the top of an old plastic garden pot. A dollar store foam pumkin is also glue gunned to the middle of the platform. Any chunky foam piece will do, the purpose is to create some elevation in the middle of the platform.

Place the plastic pots with the foam platform in a decorative container, or wrap with pretty seasonal paper. I found these horticultural burlap sacks at Home Goods. Bamboo skewers were used to create holes in the foam to make insertion of floral sticks easier.

The decorative pumkins and corn are made of foam so it was easy to insert the skewers for placement. I just eyeballed the placement and height of each piece so it looked semi balanced. This is your project, so it needs to reflect what you want it to look like. And seriously, if you just threw all these pieces in a big bowl that would look good too!

The Final Product! OK I admit, it does look like I just threw up fall cornucopia into this basket. I probably could have arranged it more thoughtfully, but the theme of this blogpost is easy! 🙂
